Quzhou is located in the west of Zhejiang Province,at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces. It is adjacent to Shanghai and Hangzhou. Quzhou administers 3 counties, namely Longyou, Kaihua and Changshan, 2 districts, Kecheng and Qujiang districts and a county level city, Jiangshan city, with a population of 2,580,000 and an area of 8,844 square kilometers. “Home of Southern Confucianism, Model City of Virtue” is the city brand of Quzhou.
Quzhou is a national historical and cultural city with a history of over 1800 years. Quzhou has a profound culture. It is the residence of Confucius descendants. The Southern Confucius Ancestral Temple here is one of the only two Confucius family temples in the whole country. As the cradle of Chinese Go game, Lanke Mountain in Quzhou has been honored as “The Fairyland of Chinese Go Game”. Quzhou is also the hometown of Yang Jizhou, the ancient Chinese acupuncture master who was honored as the Acupuncture Saint.
Quzhou has an advantageous location and convenient transportation. There are direct flights to Beijing, Shenzhen, Kunming, Qingdao, Chongqing, Jinan, Haikou, Dalian, Chengdu, Guiyang. The waterway can reach the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Yangtze River and the East China Sea. A railway network leading to eight directions is taking shape. It takes only one hour by high-speed rail to Hangzhou and about two hours to Shanghai and Ningbo cities.
Quzhou has abundant resources. Its forest coverage is 71.5%. Its total water resource is about 10 billion cubic meters. Quzhou is an ecological city with green mountains and lucid waters. With a superior ecological environment, Quzhou is also a National Ecological Demonstration Zone, a National Garden City and a National Forest City. The water compliance rate in the water environmental function zone is up to 100%, and most of the surface water quality meets the first and second level drinking water standards. The urban air quality excellence rate ( AQI ) is 93.4%, and the monthly average PM 2.5 concentration in the urban area is 33 micro gram/m³. The green coverage rate in the built-up areas of the whole city is 42.8%, and the per capita park green space is 15.2 square meters.
Quzhou is a famous ecotourism city. There are 2 5A level scenic spots and 13 4A level scenic spots, such as Root Carving Buddhist Palace, Mt. Jianglang - Nianbadu Tourist Zone. Among them, Mt. Jianglang is a World Natural Heritage. Jiangxiyan Weir is listed in the World Heritage of Irrigation System with Dujiangyan, Lingqu and Changqu. China’s 24 solar terms, represented by Jiuhua Sacrificial Ceremony of Start of Spring in Jiuhua Township, Quzhou were included in the UNESCO list of representative works of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
