College of Chemistry and Material Engineering (CCME), founded in 1985, offers the following 5 programs: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Applied Chemical Engineering and Technology (higher vocational education program). Among these programs, Chemical Engineering has been listed as a provincial First-level Discipline and New Featured Discipline of Zhejiang Province, Technology and Applied Chemical Engineering and Technology has been listed as a Provincial First-level Discipline. Currently, CCME has 68 faculty members, including 13 professors, 34 teachers hold a Ph.D. degree and 36 recipients of national and provincial awards. CCME has 1,300 full-time students at present.
CCME has a number of provincial and municipal innovation service platforms such as the National Innovation Industry Alliance for Forest-paper Integrated Functional Materials, the Key Laboratory for Fluoride and Silicon New Materials, the Key Laboratory for Ecological Protection and Environmental Management, the Provincial Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching of Chemical Engineering and Materials, the Provincial Virtual Simulation Training Center, and the Analysis and Test Center. CCME is listed as the Strategic Alliance Institution for Technological Innovation of Fluorine Materials Industry in Zhejiang Province, the Technical Alliance Institution for Fluorine and Chlorine Materials Industry in Zhejiang Province, the Core Institution for the Technical Innovation Service Platform for Fluorine and Silicon New Materials in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province, and the Core Institution Fluoride and Silicon Technology Research Institute of Zhejiang. CCME has an important training base for higher technology application-oriented talents in Zhejiang Province, a provincial off-campus practice education base for college students and a provincial continuing education base for professional and technical personnel known as the Quzhou Green Industry Cluster Engineering Practice Education Base, Quzhou University. The total value of laboratory instruments and equipment is nearly 40 million RMB. In the past five years, CCME has undertaken more than 100 projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation, Provincial Natural Science Foundation, etc., and has published more than 80 academic papers, with 58 of them indexed by SCI, EI or ISTP, and has authorized 61 patents, including 45 invention patents.
CCME has always been promoting its development strategy of consolidating its foundation, emphasizing its features and strengthening the application of knowledge through collaboration in the process of talent cultivation. In the past three years, the employment rate of the graduates was over 97%. Meanwhile, the number of graduates whose scores are above the cut-off mark for Postgraduate Entrance Examination amounted to 23 per cent of the total number of graduates and some graduates have been admitted to top universities in China such as Zhejiang University, East China University of Science and Technology and Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Students of CCME have undertaken or are undertaking over 40 projects sponsored by National and Provincial College Students’ Scientific and Technological Innovation Activities Program (Emerging Artists Talents Scheme), and have been awarded more than 50 first and second prizes in various national and provincial academic contests for college students.
