2. College of Mechanical Engineering

College of Mechanical Engineering (CME), founded in 1985, presently offers 5 undergraduate programs, namely, Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation, Material Shaping and Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering and Smart Manufacturing Engineering. Among these programs, Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation has been listed as a Preponderant Discipline of Zhejiang Province, Material Shaping and Control Engineering has been listed as a Featured Leading Discipline of Zhejiang Province, and Mechanical Engineering has been listed as a First-level Discipline of Zhejiang Province. CME’s Mechanical Foundation Experimental Teaching Center is a provincial-level Key Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and CME has 1 provincial-level Key Laboratory in Aerodynamic Equipment Technology and 2 provincial Key Science and Technology Innovation Service Platforms. The laboratories cover an area of over 5000 square meters and are equipped with apparatus costing over 43 million RMB. At present, CME has 1020 full-time students in the college and the average employment rate of CME’s graduates in the past three years was 97.8%.  

CME has 65 faculty members. Among them, there are 54 full-time educators, which include 8 professors, 26 associate professors and 19 lecturers. CME has 4 recipients of the New Century 151 Talents Project of Zhejiang Province, 3 recipients of the Youth and Middle-aged Academic Leaders Program of Zhejiang Province, and 2 recipients of the Professional Leaders Program of Zhejiang Province. 26 teachers of the teaching faculty hold a Ph.D. degree.

CME’s faculty members have won 1 second prize at the national Teaching Achievement Contest, 1 first prize at the provincial Teaching Achievement Contest and 2 second prizes. CME has undertaken more than 150 scientific research projects, including 10 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and 38 projects at the provincial level. CME’s faculty members have presided over 8 provincial Educational Reform Projects and 9 provincial Classroom Teaching Reformprojects. In the past three years, the average admission rate for postgraduate entrance examination was 29.8%. In 2019, 36 students were admitted by other prestigious universities, such as Jilin University, Northwest University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Nanchang University, Taiyuan University of Technology, Xinjiang University, Northeast Forestry University, etc. Students of CME have participated in various competitions and achieved outstanding results.
